Peace Symbol is a 90 strand 90 x 200cm bamboo beaded door curtain featuring a peace symbol on a multicoloured background.
Where does the Peace Symbol come from?
The Peace Symbol is internationally recognized. And is known by a number of names, including nuclear disarmament symbol, the CND symbol and the peace sign. It was designed in 1958 for the British nuclear disarmament movement by Gerald Holtom.
What does the Peace Symbol Mean?
The symbol is a combination of the semaphore signals for the letters “N” and “D”. And these stand for “nuclear disarmament”. In semaphore, the letter “N” is formed by a person holding two flags in an inverted “V”. And the letter “D” is formed by holding one flag pointed straight up and the other pointed straight down. Superimposing these two signs forms the shape of the centre of the peace symbol.
