What is a Camper Van?
A Camper Van is different to a Motorhome, although the two terms are sometimes used interchangeably. Camper Vans tend to be smaller and there’s a greater focus on ease of movement, rather than comfort.
Features of a Camper Van
Camper Vans may be equipped either with a pop-up roof, which is raised during camping. Or they can have a fixed roof. This is either shared with the commercial van that forms the basis of the vehicle, or as part of a custom coachbuilt body.
Campervans usually have a small kitchen with a refrigerator, and a two-burner gas hob and grill. They generally have dual-voltage lighting. This can work from a dedicated battery, or from AC power, supplied at a campsite via a hook-up cable. Larger models may include a water heater, space heating and air conditioning. Some even have a portable toilet and internal shower. Smaller models often carry a porta-potty portable toilet, and sometimes an external shower which operates within the privacy of an awning.
